I Tried Vivaia’s New Travel Loafers and Here’s My Honest Review

Quick Verdict
Summary: The Vivaia Avoir are foldable nylon travel loafers from the brand’s new RE:work collection. I wore them for six days in Belfast, on over 10,000 steps a day, and then to a theme park and they were comfortable the whole way through. They run a little roomy and I got one blister on my left heel on the first afternoon, but it disappeared quickly and never came back. They wipe clean, they look smart enough for travelling, and I would happily buy another pair.

What Makes Vivaia Different
Before getting into the individual pairs, it’s worth knowing what’s actually behind the “sustainable” label. Vivaia makes its shoes from recycled plastic bottles, spun into a breathable knit yarn, it takes around 6 bottles to make one pair of flats. They also work natural fibres like cotton and hemp into some styles. It’s not just marketing spin, it’s the reason the knit uppers on several of these pairs feel the way they do.
1. Walker Pro Hybrid Ballet Flats (Izabel)
Best for: Anything! This are the comfiest shoes ever.
If comfort is what you’re actually shopping for, the Izabel is the one to go for. It combines the easy slip-on feel of a ballet flat with the support and sole grip of a sneaker, extra heel padding, real arch support, and a soft, roomy toe box that doesn’t dig in anywhere, which is exactly what other reviewers say too, several call them out specifically for having zero break-in period and genuinely supportive soles, not just a soft knit upper doing all the work. I took these out on a drizzly morning, my feet stayed dry, and I didn’t slip once. They’re breathable, cushioned, and machine washable, which makes them a dream for travel, and easily the pair in this lineup I’d reach for on a day where I know I’ll be on my feet for hours.

I Tried Vivaia’s Summer Shoes: Here’s My Honest Review
Some relationships just stand the test of time. I’ve had my Vivaia Jade Pro heels for over four years now: four years of airports, evening dinners, cobblestone streets, and last-minute “I need to look put-together” moments. And although they do now look a little worn, they are still genuinely the most comfortable heels I’ve ever owned. The promise on the box when I bought them was that you could practically run in them. Reader, it’s kind of true.
So when Vivaia sent me a selection of their summer styles to try, I was both excited and a little nervous. Could they possibly live up to that benchmark?
I tested four pairs across two weeks: the Ava heeled sandals, the Carey mesh flats, the Paloma arch-support sandals, and the Delia flat sandals. Here’s everything you need to know before you buy.
A quick note on AdaptAll
You’ll see AdaptAll mentioned across several of these styles, and it’s worth explaining before we get into individual reviews. It’s Vivaia’s strap-adjustment technology. Essentially, the straps are designed to flex and adapt to the shape of your foot rather than locking you into a fixed fit. For anyone who’s had one too many new-shoe blisters on holiday, it makes a real practical difference.
1. Ava Square-Toe Heeled Sandals
👠 Best for: dinners out, summer weddings, anywhere you want a heel that won’t destroy your feet
If I could summarise the Ava in one sentence: these are what I would have bought instead of the Jade Pro if they’d existed when I first discovered Vivaia.
The Ava has that same square-toe silhouette I’ve loved for years, with a block heel that sits at a height I’d actually consider wearing for a full day of exploring. The AdaptAll strap across the front gives you a surprisingly secure fit. I wore these on an uneven terrace and felt perfectly stable, which I genuinely did not expect from a heeled sandal.
They won’t replace the Jade Pro for me (nothing will, honestly: those shoes are practically family at this point), but they’re the closest thing to that level of wearable-heel I’ve found in a sandal. If you’ve been on the fence about Vivaia’s closed-toe styles because summer is coming, start here.

Comfort: 8.5/10
Style tip: These look brilliant with a midi dress or wide-leg trousers. The square toe keeps them feeling modern rather than overly dressy.
2. Carey Square-Toe Mesh Flats
👟 Best for: everyday errands, casual lunches, commuting in warmer months
The Carey flats are Vivaia doing breathable casual wear, and the mesh upper is genuinely lovely in warmer weather: light, airy, and they don’t trap heat the way a lot of summer flats do.
They’re also very pretty. The square-toe shape keeps them looking intentional (mesh can sometimes veer into trainers territory, but these don’t), and the fit out of the box is comfortable enough to wear immediately without a break-in period.
Honest caveat, though, and I think it’s worth flagging: the non-mesh panels (the solid fabric sections around the toe and heel) show wear faster than I expected. After a couple of days of regular use, mine were looking noticeably dirty. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something to go into with open eyes. If you’re planning to use these as your daily shoe through an entire summer, factor that in.
Fit: True to size.
Comfort: 8/10
Worth noting: Great for warm days when you need something breathable, but for heavy daily wear you may find the solid panels show their age sooner than you’d like.
3. Paloma Arch Pro AdaptAll Sandals
🌿 Best for: long walking days, anyone who needs arch support without sacrificing style
I’ll be honest: I didn’t expect to love the Paloma as much as I do.
The selling point is the Arch Pro midsole: dual-density foam that gives you a noticeably different underfoot feel compared to a standard flat sandal. If you’ve ever walked a city for six hours and arrived home with aching arches, you’ll understand why this matters. The heel sits at a gentle 10mm, which adds just enough lift to reduce strain on the Achilles without feeling like a heel.
What I wasn’t expecting was the herbal insole. Vivaia uses an Artemisia argyi-infused footbed, which apparently has traditional anti-inflammatory properties. I can’t verify the science on that, but I can tell you the insoles feel noticeably softer and more padded than a standard sandal. The anti-slip outsole is also genuinely grippy, which matters when you’re navigating damp pavements or uneven ground.
The AdaptAll straps mean these adjust to fit properly around the midfoot, which is the part that usually makes or breaks a sandal for me. Round-toe shape and clean lines, so these look good with summer dresses and shorts alike.
Fit: I’d go true to size, but if you have wider feet the AdaptAll strap gives you a bit of flex.
Comfort: 9/10
Worth noting: If arch support is a priority for you, these are the pair to go for. The Arch Pro midsole makes a real difference over a long day.
4. Delia Square-Toe Flat Sandals
🩴 Best for: holidays, beach days, quick outings when you just need something easy to slip on
The Delia is the most relaxed of the four: a flat, open sandal with an AdaptAll strap and a square-toe silhouette that makes it look more polished than your average slide. These are your throw-on-and-go summer shoes.
What I appreciate about the Delia is that it feels instep-friendly in a way that a lot of flat sandals don’t. If you have a higher instep and sandals often feel tight or gap oddly, the adjustable strap makes a meaningful difference. I’ve been grabbing these for quick errands and low-key evenings out, and they’ve genuinely become the shoe I reach for when I don’t want to think too hard about what’s on my feet.
They’re not the shoe for a long walking day (for that I’d point you to the Paloma), but for a relaxed holiday, a weekend market, or anything where ease is the priority, the Delia earns its place.

Comfort: 8/10
Style tip: These pair nicely with linen trousers or a casual summer dress. The square toe elevates them just enough that they don’t feel like beach shoes.
Final Thoughts
All four pairs are genuinely comfortable out of the box, which is the thing I value most in a shoe, especially in summer, when blisters from new sandals are practically a rite of passage.
One thing worth noting: none of these are machine washable. If you’ve followed my previous Vivaia reviews, you’ll know that machine washability is usually one of the brand’s big selling points. It’s not the case with these summer styles, so something to be aware of going in if you hate hand cleaning shoes (like me).
That said, the quality, comfort, and design are all still very much there. The Paloma is my top pick for anyone who walks a lot. The Ava is my recommendation if you want a summer heel that won’t have you limping home. The Carey is lovely for casual wear. And the Delia is brilliant for holidays and easy days when you just want something slip-on and put-together.

Vivaia Boots Review (2026): Are They Worth It? My Honest Thoughts
If you’ve been here a while, you know I’m a huge fan of VIVAIA: sustainable, comfortable, stylish footwear that actually looks good with real outfits. I have owned three pairs of VIVAIA boots for over 2 years now, and I have just added a fourth, so this is my honest review of all four, including what I would and would not buy again.

My VIVAIA Boots Reviewed
1. VIVAIA Ryan Chelsea Boots: My Favourite Pair
Model: Slip-On Square-Toe Ankle Chelsea Boots “Ryan”
I have had my Ryan boots in Warm Taupe for over 2 years, and they are my favourite ones of the whole lot. They are so easy to put on and extremely, extremely comfy, you can walk for hours on end. They make any outfit look fabulous.
The square toe adds a modern edge without being flashy, and the slip-on design is so practical. They pair with everything (jeans, trousers, dresses, skirts), they have a very comfy fit, and they pass the rain test thanks to their water-repellent finish.
The one thing I would flag is the care. From what I understand they are not machine washable (the product page does not list them as machine washable), and they do sometimes get dirty, which is annoying because you cannot just pop them in the wash.
Sizing: True to size; forgiving upper for wider feet.
Best for: Everyday wear, travel, changing seasons.
Why I love them: So easy to slip on, comfy for hours, and they go with everything.

2. VIVAIA Filipa Knee-High Boots: The Cosy Winter Pair
Model: Round-Toe Stretchy Wool Knee-High Boots “Filipa”
I have had my Filipa boots in Warm Taupe for 2 years too. They are comfortable but very warm, so I have not worn them as much as my Ryan slip-ons. They are also slip-on, but not as easy to put on unless you have bare legs, and the calf can feel tighter if you are wearing trousers.
They do look elegant, and the wool material adds a cosy winter touch, but the knit element makes them a bit casual.
Sizing: True to size; the stretch helps, but the calf can be tighter with trousers.
Best for: Winter outfits, cool-season travel, and wearing with bare legs or tights.
Why I love them: Very comfortable and very warm.

3. VIVAIA Everly Chunky Platform Boots: The Statement Pair
Model: Round-Toe Chunky Platform Travel Boots “Everly”
I have had my Everly boots in Dark Chocolate for around 2 years, and the colour is dreamy. The platform is quite tall but still very comfy, they dress up any outfit, and the height they give you is a plus.
They are quite heavy, which is something to consider if you are not used to it, but they are water repellent. To start with, the weight of the boot seemed to make it slip off when I wore tights, but with socks this did not happen. They feel sturdier than my more delicate knit styles, which is great for city exploring, though the weight is worth thinking about if you want them for travel.
Sizing: True to size; the platform sole gives a grounded feel.
Best for: Street-style outfits, city days and colder seasons.
Why I love them: Bold, comfy and they add height.

4. VIVAIA Atria Block-Heel Knee-High Boots: The Newest Addition
Model: Square-Toe Block-Heel Knee-High Boots “Atria”
The newest boots in my collection are the Atria in Dark Chocolate. I will be honest, I have not worn them out yet, so this is a first impression only. From trying them on they look so lovely and feel very warm.
Vivaia describes the Atria as having an S-curve stretch knit shaft for a more flexible calf fit, a water-repellent upper, a heat-retaining aerogel layer and a soft fleece lining, with a 67mm block heel. It is not machine washable. I will update this review once I have worn them properly.
Which VIVAIA Boots Should You Buy?
If you only buy one pair, I would say the Ryan 100%, since they are just easy and go with everything, and they are fairly packable for travel. Choose the Filipa if you want something warm for winter, and the Atria if you want a dressier knee-high with a block heel, though I will report back on those.
I would think twice about the Everly if you are not used to heavy boots, as the weight makes them less easy to use day to day.
Can You Wash VIVAIA Boots?
Not as far as I know. The Everly and the Atria are listed as not machine washable, the Ryan page does not list it as machine washable, and I have not washed any of mine. Vivaia’s own guidance for shoes that are not machine washable is to gently scrub the uppers and soles with a clean cloth, inside and out. If you want shoes you can pop in the wash, some of Vivaia’s flats are, and I cover them in my review of 5 pairs of Vivaia shoes.
Final Verdict: Are Vivaia Boots Worth Buying?
Yes, with a few honest caveats. After 2 years of wearing three of these pairs, the Ryan is my favourite by a long way. The Filipa is very comfy but very warm, the Everly is heavy but dreamy, and the Atria looks lovely, but I need to wear it before I can tell you more.
My cons: none of them are really pop-in-the-wash boots, the Ryan does get dirty, the Filipa can be tight in the calf with trousers and a bit casual, and the Everly is heavy.

Are Vivaia boots comfortable?
Yes. I have worn my Ryan boots for over 2 years and they are extremely comfy, you can walk for hours on end. The Filipa and Everly are comfortable too, although the Filipa is very warm and the Everly is quite heavy.
